Blog #5

May 18, 2024

I am having a hard time finding something of interest to write about. First off I am feeling a little depressed. I am watching game 6 of the series and my Canucks aren't doing well. It's 5 to 1 for Edmonton. My boys are trying but the Oilers are pushing that much harder. Oh well, it's on to Game 7 of the series on Monday Night.

Have I mentioned my dog Betty is cute but a little psycho? I am sitting on the couch trying to write and the little B#&@ch starts barking at me and attempts to dry hump my leg. She tries to do this as I am trying to write this blog. 20 minutes later I have scratches all over me and Betty has been banished to the kitchen because that is where barking psycho dogs go.

We rescued Betty almost a year ago. I didn't realize how psycho a Beagle can be. In the years I have had dogs, I've never had a dog bark at me like she does. From what I have read about Beagles or watched on YouTube her behavior is typical of a beagle. Mind you we've had labrador retrievers and golden retrievers who are extremely docile animals and they had to be good with children.

I tried writing a poem - I wrote this when my kids were small but I have never had the nerve to show it to anyone. So world here is my poem called:

Procrastination – Friend or Foe?

Procrastination? Are you a friend or foe?

You come to me at the most inconvenient times,

When the laundry is piling up,

when the dishes are stacked in the sink,

when the vacuum cleaner needs to come out.

You come to me in the form of creativity.

A thought or writing idea,

that requires immediate attention.

When procrastination comes to a homemaker

it is a friend to the writer.

When procrastination comes to the writer

it is a friend for the homemaker.

Do you come to me in the form of my children?

requiring my attention?

Do you come to me when the telephone rings,

Do I answer or let the machine pick up?

Procrastination you are my friend.

You are always with me --

Sometimes I listen to your voice.

pressing me to leave what I am doing.

Sometimes I refuse.

Procrastination is a choice.

something that I choose.
